The First 2 Days

Hi everyone! It's really great here. I was glad to finally arrive after all the travelling. I flew from Saskatoon to Minneapolis, Minneapolis to Amsterdam (horribly long flight), Amsterdam to Manchester, and then took a train from Manchester to Carnforth, and then took a mini bus to the school! I wasn't able to sleep at all, so I was exhausted by the time I arrived.

The school is absolutely GORGEOUS. Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures up for you soon.

The people are great too! There are 128 girls and 57 boys--so quite a difference there. My roomates are all really nice! There's another girl from Canada (Calgary, AB), and three from the US (Chicago, Illinois; Fairbanks, Alaska; and somewhere else....Michigan I think.) And then there's one girl from Korea, and she's simply hilarious!

We had our first lectures this morning. One class is called "The Transforming Friendship" and it's taught by Rob Whittaker, the principal here at Capernwray Hall. He's an excellent speaker and I like his style a lot. The second class we had today was on prayer, taught by Kim Lee. It was good as well but I didn't enjoy it as much as the first class.

As far as other work goes, I have to read up to Genesis 42 by Sunday. I'm already on chapter 17 so it's going pretty well so far. I think I also have a memory verse to learn.

I'm tired! Most people here travelled quite far, so we're all getting used to the new schedule and adjusting our clocks. Breakfast is at 7:30 every morning, except on the weekend. Then it's at 11 on Saturday and 8:30 on Sunday. The days are fairly full. I'm excited for sports to start.

The rain started today. It's nothing like at home. It's just a really light drizzle. There is an apple tree almost directly outside my window, and behind that is a soccer field (pardon me, football pitch)...with sheep running around on it! Quite humorous! There are a lot of sheep here. Apparently about the same number of sheep as students! When the rain starts I'm planning to go up in the tower of the castle! Who knows how long that will be though.

Anyway, that's a bit of what my life is like at the moment!

P.S. The food here isn't even bad at all!

  1. Except for the luggage incident, it's great to hear that it's going well. The loo might get a bit busy with all those girls? Enjoy your week! Cheerio!

  2. It hasn't even been bad. There's 3 rooms in my dorm that share the bathroom. No fights over the showers yet! :) Cheers!
